Doris Jean Bivens

Doris Jean Bivens who was born January 30, 1940 departed this life on July 10, 2018 at the age of 78 surrounded by her loving family.

Doris (Nanny) was known to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as a faithful Christian, hard worker, great cook, master gardener, but most of all a perfect example of real, unconditional love. Doris shared this love of her family and God with her husband Charles (Pa). Their love for each other was rare and Charles’ care for Doris during her long, hard battle was an extraordinary example of love and devotion.

She was a native of Lawrence Country TN, retired from Dura Automotive and a member of the Deerfield Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Mary Katherine Bradley Brown, two brothers – TD Brown and Ray Brown, and one grandson Chase Bivens.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Charles Bivens; two sons Gary (Erin) Bivens of Lawrenceburg, Roger (Sherry) Bivens of Summertown, one daughter Tracy (David) Angus of Lawrenceburg; seven grandchildren – Corey (Kayla) Bivens, Whit Bivens, Marissa (Justin) Isbell, Lauren (Josh) Day, Darian (Bubba) Staggs, Blake (Melissa) Bivens, and Hunter Bivens; nine great grandchildren – Parker, Analeigha, Ansley, and Briar Bivens; Knoxleigh Isbell; Rollins & Jeter Day; Jep Staggs, and Karcen Bivens; two brothers – CW (Nettie Mae) Brown and Roy (Judy) Brown; one sister Mary Lois (Ira) Bivens, one special sister-in-law Connie Brown.

Some of Doris’ special care givers over her long, hard journey were Dr. Cummins Couch, Tammy Stults, Amy Hinkey, other members of Avalon Hospice, Sue Taylor, and Lisa Bivens.

Funeral services for Doris Jean Bivens were conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, with David Smith and Leslie Shadrick officiating. Interment followed at OK Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
