George W. “Skip” Tichy
George W. “Skip” Tichy, 86, of Louisville, KY, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, after an extended illness.
He was retired from ConAgra Foods and spent his retirement years playing cards, working at the Jefferson County Election Commission warehouse, and driving cars for many local dealerships with close friends. Skip was a Korean War veteran, a former Shriner, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George G. and Mary Louise (Preston) Tichy; brother: James D. Tich;, and his beloved dog: Cromwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 29 years: Mary Nell Whitehead (Hunt) Tichy; stepsons: Mike (Dru) O. Hunt, Lawrenceburg, and their son Lucas Hunt; Mark O. Hunt, Lawrenceburg, and his children Jessa Hunt, Joie Hunt, Bo Hunt, Bear Hunt; brothers-in-law: Doyle (Janie) Whitehead, Missouri and Jerry (Carol) Whitehead, Lawrenceburg, TN; sisters-in-law: Dale (Clyde) Jenkins, Florida and Dianne Whitehead Hinkel, Florida; brother: Bob (Dinah) Tichy, Louisville; sister: Mary Kay Oechsli, Louisville; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Even though a lifelong Kentucky Wildcat fan, Skip wished his body to be donated for medical research to the University of Louisville School of Medicine. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Skip’s home church, Ninth & O Baptist Church, 4401 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville KY, with Dr. Bill Cook, Lucas Hunt, and Bob Tichy officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Ninth & O Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
