Donald “Don” Virgil Maxwell, age 74, a resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2019 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.
Born on October 4, 1944 in Lawrenceburg, Don was the son of the late Virgil Maxwell and the late Martha Elizabeth Smith Maxwell. He served his country in the United States Army and attended Meadowview Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. He was self-employed over twenty years building swimming pools. Don was passionate about fishing and also enjoyed hunting. He was a loving husband and father who especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Bart McKay Maxwell Hughes and Willard E. Hughes; daughter in law: Glenda Benson Hughes; and sister: Irene Lovell.
He is survived by his wife: Martha Harris Maxwell of Lawrenceburg; children: Krista Maxwell of Missouri, Renay Fernandez of Lawrenceburg, Deonna Hughes of Lawrenceburg, James Robert Hughes of Lawrenceburg; daughter in law: Jennifer Hughes of Lawrenceburg; sister: Marie (Jim) Brady of Oklahoma; grandchildren: Julia Maxwell (David) Johnson, Heather (John) Harlan, Samantha Weigart, John Curtis Kingsbury, II, Francisca (Scottie) Barber, Jesse Bradley, Skyler Fernandez, Tristan Fernandez, Briana (Alex) Kirris, Michael Hughes; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Donald Virgil Maxwell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Meadowview Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent by way of: www.TnFunerals.com.
