Willa Dean Mote

Willa Dean Mote
Willa Dean Mote, widow of Charlie Mote, passed away May 28. 2019.
She was born July 26, 1926, the last child born to the late Floyd and Lorena Coffey. She was a life-long resident of Lawrence County, save about 18 months of temporary residence out of state. She worked full time for the first 45 years of her adult life. After the last child left home, the last cow was sold, and the cotton allotment transferred to someone else, she went to work in the public school cafeteria. She concluded her career as manager of the cafeteria at Lawrenceburg Public School, the same school she had attended as a child.
In retirement, she was able to enjoy living independently in her own home, doing just as she pleased, for 30 years. She appreciated the close friendship and assistance of Janice Campbell during the last few years she was able to live at home. The competent and caring staff of NHC Scott are much appreciated for making her last three months comfortable and peaceful.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Flora Craft, Myrtis Bradbury, F. L. Coffey Jr., and Wendell Coffey.
She is survived by all of her descendants born to date, including her sons: Roland Mote (wife Leona) of Maryville, TN, Jerry Mote (wife Bette) of Louisburg, NC, and Mitchell Mote (wife Kathilu) of Rockvale, TN; daughters: Charlotte Rash of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Molly Whitworth of Pulaski, TN; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Willa Dean Mote were conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, with David Stockton officiating. Interment followed at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. Neal Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. Condolences may be sent by way of: www.nealfuneralhome.net.
