Maxine Kelso Ayers was born August 20, 1929 in Lawrence County, TN to the union of the late Elbert and Mable Clayton Kelso.
She was united in marriage to Ralph C Ayers on October 9, 1949. Mr. Ayers preceded her in death on September 27, 2018. Mrs. Ayers was a Homemaker and worked as a beautician at her shop Maxine’s Beauty Shop in Summertown. She was a member of the Summertown United Methodist Church.Mrs. Ayers departed this life on June 11, 2019 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee making her stay in this life some 89 Years, 9 Months and 22 Days.
In addition to her husband of 68 years and her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by four brothers: John D. Kelso, Orval Kelso, Dillard Kelso, Glen Kelso; and a sister: Lazelle Kelso Daniel.
She is survived by her children: Benny Ayers and wife Nancy of Columbia, TN, Pam “P.J.” Miles of Lawrenceburg, TN, Ivan Ayers of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Barry Ayers of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Sue Kelso of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Janis Kelso Brewer and husband Robert of Ledbetter, KY; seven grandchildren: Kandy Norton and husband Hunter of Poplar Bluff, MO, Cody Miles and wife Megan of Lawrenceburg, TN, Robert Miles of Lawrenceburg, TN, Nick Ayers and wife Mandi of Spring Hill, TN, Natalie Rogers and husband Robert of Columbia , TN, Trent Ayers of Cibolo, TX, and Anniston Ayers of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Maxine Kelso Ayers were held at 11:00 a.m. on June 15, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors at Collinwood in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Ray Watkins officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, Tennessee. Pallbearers included: Nick Ayers, Tyler Ayers, Kade Kennedy, Cody Miles, Ray Kelso, Jr., Brad Sears, and Seth Kelso.
