Barbara Lyndell Jones Henderson passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at NHC Cool Springs, Franklin, TN.
Barbara was born August 7, 1936 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the youngest of eight children. The Jones family later moved to Oxnard, CA. She graduated from Newberry park Academy and received her nursing degree from White Memorial Hospital, Glendale, CA. She married Dr. Norman Henderson on November 13, 1956. They moved their growing family to Lawrenceburg, TN when Norman’s commitment to the U.S. Air Force at Vandenberg Air Base was fulfilled in 1958.
Barbara helped Norman in his medical office as well as raising five children. She was a very active member of the SDA church as a pianist, teacher, and head of the hostess and flower committee, providing wonderful food and beautiful floral arrangements for many years. She was a past-President of the Lioness Culb and very active in community service. She started the Volunteer Auxillary and Gift Shop when Scott Memorial Hospital opened.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: James and Lillie Jones; three brothers: Jim, Myrle and Gerald Jones; one sister: Joyce Jones Merriweather; and husband: Dr. Norman Henderson.
She is survived by two brothers: Donald and Charles jones; sister: Dorothy Jones Chandler; five children: Cindy (Charles) Kildgore, Linda (Keith) Terrill, Teri (Karlen) Bailie, Bark (Cindy) Henderson, and Scott, (Leslie) Henderson; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Barbara Lyndell Jones Henderson will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Lawrenceburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
