Jo Ann “Grannie” Hicks, 75 of Summertown, TN passed away peacefully at home January 10, 2020.
Jo Ann was born in Summertown on April 14, 1944 and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a disabled retiree of the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Livonia, MI. During her life on earth she had a big heart for helping people and stray animals. Always trying to make sure those people and animals were taken care of was what she did. The love she had for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a mighty big love.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Gerald “Dutch” Hayes and Dellar J. Payne; husbands: Floyd F. Phillips and Robert W. Hicks, Sr.; and grandson: JJ McKennon.
She is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Jackie) McKennon; son: Robert W. Hicks, Jr., both of Summertown; stepson: Robert Anthony Hicks of Huntington, TN; grandchildren: Holly (Phillip) Wilson, Rusty Hicks, Heather Hicks and Maddie Hicks; great-grandchildren: Ashley Wilson, Millie Mckennon, Macy McKennon, Reese Wilson, Mason McKennon, Lincoln Wilson, Hazel, Harper and Harlee; sisters: Wilma Brashears, Peggy Braden and Lynn Smith; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her fur baby: Shaggy.
Funeral services for Jo Ann “Grannie” Hicks were conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2020 at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Bro. Art McCormick officiating. Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. Condolences may be sent by way of: www.pettusturnbo.com.
