Paul Elmer Shults, age 86, of Leoma, TN passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Southern TN Regional Health System in Lawrenceburg, TN.
He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, and a painter. He was also a member of County Line Church of Christ. He was dedicated in helping and serving the youth in sports activities throughout the county. Mr. Shults served his country honorably in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James M. and Martha Ellen Fox Shults; his first wife: Jalene Yocom Shults; his second wife: Shirley Bradley Shults; two sons: Donnie Shults and Tim Shults; three sisters: Lola Fincher, Marie Kelley, and Flora Fleeman; and two brothers: Earl Shults and James Shults, Jr.
He is survived by three daughters: Judy Cothren (Eddy) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Janice Thomas (Paul) of Franklin, TN, and Beverly Taylor (Ronnie) of Lawrenceburg, TN; one son: Ricky Shults (Patsy) of  Lawrenceburg, TN; one step-daughter: Sherry Haley of Smyrna, TN; two brothers: Walter Shults and Charlie Shults, both of Leoma, TN; eighteen grandchildren: Travis, Becky, Brittany, Wesley, Jacob, Cade, Laura, Austin, Anna, Emily, Will, Jay, Adam, Jacklyn, Sandy, Kalyn, Jennie, and Hunter; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Paul Elmer Shults were conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 with Jacob Evans officiating. Interment followed at Gum Springs Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors. The employees of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department served as honorary pallbearers.
