Robert Alvin Douglas passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, AR.
Robert was born on March 23, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert Duncan Douglas and Artola Hazel Lytle Douglas. He moved with his family to Lawrenceburg, TN in 1956 and attended the Castle Heights Military Academy, graduating in 1968, and becoming a member of the Army National Guard. Afterwards, Robert worked at Murray Manufacturing Company in Brentwood, TN for 19 years in service and sales. He then was founder and CEO of Gulf Coast Engines, Inc. in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1987-2007.
He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and reader. He relocated to Lawrenceburg, TN where he was an active member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church. Friends and loved ones remember him for his kindness and compassion coupled with a wicked sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Gene Douglas.
He is survived by his wife: Candace Kay Douglas of Rogers, AR; son: Robert Blake Douglas of Las Vegas, NV; sister and brother-in-law: Carole and Ron Denton of Bingham Farms, MI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Dianne and Russell Leeman of Decatur, AR; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Patricia and Frank Webb of Decatur, AR; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: James and Jeannie Burr of Bentonville, AR; nephews and nieces: John, Jeremiah, Bryan, Kristy, Jennifer, Gregory, Beth, and Scott.
A memorial service for Robert Alvin Douglas will be held in Lawrenceburg, TN at a date and time to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to the American Association for Cancer Research (aacr.org). Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers, AR.
