Bobby Gene Vandiver
Bobby Gene Vandiver, age 81, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.
He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired truck driver, and a member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed playing with and aggravating the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Vandiver served his country honorably for 19 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Buford and Gracie Boyd Vandiver; one daughter: Pamela Yates; one infant son: Phillip Vandiver; and one sister: Kaye Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Kathy Ann Vandiver of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters: April Long (Lucas) of Summertown, TN and Natalie Short (Kaleb) of Lawrenceburg, TN; two sisters: Brenda Jacobs (Randy) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Sue Simms of Winchester, TN; six grandchildren: Will Yates (Crystal), Leah Trimble, Finley Long, Liam Long, Maddie Short and Millie Short; five great-grandchildren: Jocee Willis, Jay Willis, Sophia Trimble, Adelaide Yates, and Gracie Louise Yates, due in September; uncle: Lavon Boyd; special friend: Buddy Seymore; several nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order No. 17, a private graveside service for Bobby Gene Vandiver was held at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.
