Marjorie Nell Newton, age 77, of Lawrenceburg TN, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Marjorie was of the Baptist faith and attended Meadow View Baptist church. She was a Head Start teacher and loved the kids she worked with, who knew her as “Miss Margie.” She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed reading, and also going to Shoney’s every Saturday morning with her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Newton; parents: Stanford and Mildred Higdon; and brother-in-law: Charles Newton
She is survived by her sons: Mark Anthony Newton (Kelly), Gary Wayne Newton (Rita); daughters: Barbara Ann Witt (Rob), Sam Newton (Mike); brother: Stanley Higdon; sisters: Doris Newton, Kathy James (David); ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Marjorie Nell Newton will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery. with Bro. Carlos Casteel officiating. Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Condolences may be sent by way of: www.pettusturnbo.com.
