Richard E. Humston
Jesus came to pick up his faithful servant, Rev. Richard E. Humston, on Wednesday night, July 8, 2020, from his home in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was surrounded by his loving family. Rich was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born December 26, 1942, in Falls of Rough, KY, to Loyd and Ruby Humston. After graduating from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1965, he went on to Nazarene Theological Seminary and graduated with honors in 1969.
Rich spent his life in ministry, pastoring churches throughout Kansas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and Tennessee. He served his country as an U.S. Army chaplain and retired as a LTC from the Florida Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Doris Gallo.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 57 years: Winona Flatt Humston; daughters: Shelly (Phillip) Potter and Sandra (Rich) Spicer, both of Nashville, TN; son: Scott (Debi) Humston of Mount Dora, FL; grandchildren: Conner (Cali) Adams, Luke (Abby) Potter, Courtney Potter, Hannah Humston, Colsen Adams, Chris Adams, Abigail Humston, Nathaniel Humston, and Rachel Humston; great-grandchildren: Owen Potter and Liam Potter; and sisters: Barbara Periman and Marilyn Humston, both of Central Florida.
Funeral services for Rev. Richard E. Humston were conducted at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 with Rickey Wade and Kevin Marston officiating. Interment followed at Loretto Cemetery in Loretto, TN, with full military honors. Neal Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
