Rita J. Binkley, age 97, of Fostoria, OH passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born March 19, 1923 in Fostoria to the late Arthur and Cornelia (Helmstetter) Binkley. She graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1941 and from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo in 1944. Rita had worked at Fostoria City Hospital in the surgical department and emergency room. She then went on to work for many years at the Union Carbide as an industrial nurse. Rita was a lifelong member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and a role model of her Catholic faith. She was loved by all who knew her, especially by her numerous cousins.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brother: Raymond (Ardella Foos) Binkley.
Survivors include nephews: James Binkley of Lawrenceburg, TN and John (Jane) Binkley of Arlington, VA; great-niece: Melissa; great-nephew: Michael; and great-great nephew: Wilson, who brought much joy to her life.
Visitation was held Saturday November 21, 2020 at Hoeing & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria, OH, 44830. Funeral Mass was 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. A private family burial was held in St. Wendelin Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Church or Cemetery Fund.
