CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG CLASS III LANDFILL PERMIT MODIFICATION –
COMMENTS WELCOME

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste
Management (DSWM), has tentatively decided to issue a solid waste disposal facility permit major
modification to The City of Lawrenceburg for their Class III Landfill. This major modification
will result in an additional 8.32 acres of disposal area through a lateral expansion of the existing
landfill.

The facility, identified as City of Lawrenceburg Class III Demolition Landfi ll (DML500000129),
is located in Lawrence County at Grinnell Drive, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee (latitude 35.2054° N/
longitude -87.3827° W). This permit would allow construction, operation, closure, and post-closure
care of the Class III disposal facility which may include construction and demolition waste,
including but not limited to: scrap lumber, brick/block, wood (trees, brush, etc.), shingles, vinyl
and aluminum siding, concrete, furniture, other non-hazardous construction and demolition related
waste, and/or certain wastes having similar characteristics and approved in writing by TDEC.
Waste materials that will not be allowed for disposal at this facility include, but are not limited
to: liquid waste, tires, medical waste, mattresses, box springs, white goods, dead animals and ash
generated from municipal solid waste combustion processes. No special or sanitary wastes will
be accepted at this facility. No hazardous wastes, as regulated by the Tennessee Hazardous Waste
Management Act (Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-212-101, et. seq.) and the Rules adopted
pursuant to the Act, shall be accepted for disposal at this facility. The official responsible for operation
of the facility is Chris Shaffer, City Administrator, City of Lawrenceburg, 25 Public Square,
Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 (931-766-1251).

DSWM has made a preliminary determination that The City of Lawrenceburg’s application meets
the applicable requirements of Tennessee Rule Chapter 0400-11-01, Solid Waste Processing and
Disposal. Pending consideration of any comments received during the 45-day comment period,
DSWM intends to issue this permit modification.
