Janet Owens Durham

Janet Owens Durham, 77, passed peacefully to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 12, 2021. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Morristown, Tennessee and a former member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was a native of Lawrence County Tennessee, but resided near her family in Morristown for the past ten years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Durham; her parents William Roy and Allie Stisher Owens; sisters Dean Beadle, Jackie Howell, Evelyn Lail, Josephine Hertweck and Carolyn Kirchner.

She is survived by her daughter Jana Terry (Brack) of Morristown, TN, grandsons, John Robert & Alex Terry and brothers Bill Owens of Fort Worth, TX and Bob (Mary) Owens of Cleburne, TX. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Special thanks to the attentive nurses and staff at Life Care of Jefferson City for her care over the past months.

The family will receive friends Monday June 14th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 Wilder Street, Morristown, with a service to follow at 6 p.m. with the Reverend Mike Cutshaw officiating.  Graveside services will be Wednesday June 16th at 11 a.m. (CST) at the John Lay Cemetery in Ethridge, Tennessee. The family will gather at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery for visitation before the interment. Arrangements are handled by Allen Funeral Home of Morristown and Neal Funeral Home of Lawrenceburg. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the bereavement fund at Trinity UMC or the local mission funds of Coleman Memorial UMC.
