Sammie Grooms

Sammie Grooms, age 89, of Loretto, TN passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at The Gardens Memory Care following an extended illness.
He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, retired from TVA, and a member of Loretto United Methodist Church. He loved bird hunting and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Boyd and Hattie Hughes Grooms; two sisters: Grace Lumpkins and Tiny May Grooms; and two nephews: Wayne and Chuck Lumpkins.
He is survived by his wife: Della Myers Grooms of Loretto, TN; son: Doug Grooms (Kim) of Lebanon, TN; sisters: Lucille Marks and Sue Simbeck, both of Loretto, TN; grandson: Josh Law (Ashley) of Portland, TN; two great-grandchildren: Nate Law and Abbie Law; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial for Sammie Grooms will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Loretto Memorial Gardens with Jeff Jacob officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the graveside. Loretto Memorial Chapel is in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Loretto United Methodist Church Building Fund.
