Charles Wayne (Buddy) Hughes
Charles Wayne (Buddy) Hughes
Charles Wayne (Buddy) Hughes departed his earthly home on Sunday, June 14, 2020 after an extended illness.
He was born October 22, 1946. It was his wish for his ashes to float peacefully down the Buffalo River where he shared many happy memories with his Tennessee family. Not to be forgotten, are the memories his family in Alabama got to make and share with him during his time with us.
He was retired from Lincoln Brass Works. He loved to dance and spent lots of happy time on a square dance floor. He developed a love for horses and competed in horse shows. Daddy had an infectious laugh and shared it often with his friends. It lives on in his oldest son Wayne. He spent many happy hours with his fishing buddy, his sister, Cathy Skelton. Many times, we would hear someone remark when something needed fixed or done, “Just get Buddy a six pack and he’ll take care of it.” His life was worth far more than a six pack.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas O’Neal and Juanita Ayers Hughes, originally of Loretto, TN and later years in Waynesboro, TN; brothers: Jerry Dale Hughes (Jake) and Donald O’Neal Hughes (Donnie -“Coon”); and the mother of his two youngest children: Karen Ann Hughes.
To guard his memory, he leaves behind his children (oldest to youngest): Jana Myrick (step-daughter) Greenhill, AL, Tebra Thigpen (Robert) Greenhill, AL, Gordon Wayne Hughes (Connie) Greenhill, AL, Tonya Lee Hannah, Waynesboro, TN and Charles Wayne (Chuck) Hughes, Jr. (Kaya); sisters: Anita Jackson (Ricky) Pulaski, TN and Cathy Skelton, Waynesboro, TN; brothers: Thomas (Tommy Mack) Hughes (Margie), Loretto, TN (FOOTNOTE: Tom passed ayay 5-27-21, prior to this publication) and William (Billy) Hughes (Almeda) Pulaski, TN; his first wife and mother of his oldest children: Linda Crowson; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (plus 1 great grandson – Ethan Wayne Hughes, born prior to this publication but after Mr. Hughes’ passing); numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry best friend: Tucker.
Memorial services for Charles Wayne (Buddy) Hughes will take place at a later date.
