William E. “Speedy” Taylor, Jr.
William E. “Speedy” Taylor, Jr., beloved friend, age 77, entered eternal rest with his Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, served as a city official of Ethridge, TN and was the first Magistrate of Lawrence County. He retired in 2019. He served in the U.S. Army until his discharge in December, 1969, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion, and was of the Christian faith.
Speedy loved thrifting, collectables, animals and the ladies. He was quick-witted and enjoyed making people laugh. He was never afraid to openly speak his mind and you always knew where you stood with him. He took immense joy in helping others, secretly picking up the tabs at restaurants, and never passed by anyone looking for donations. He enjoyed watching ID, reading his Bible each night before sleep and listening to George Jones.
He was the son of William E. Taylor and Edna Hollis Taylor; brother to Edna Earl Taylor; father to Johnny Taylor, Tina Boyd, and Bridget Staggs; with five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of great friends.
A Memorial Service for William E. “Speedy” Taylor, Jr. will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Coleman United Methodist Church.
