Carl Haynes Newman
Carl Haynes Newman was born on September 17, 1938 in Morris Chapel, TN, the son of the late George Odell and Ruthie Haynes Newman. He departed this life on April 22, 2023 in Lawrenceburg, TN at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
On September 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Pauline White Newman, who preceded her husband in death on March 25, 2019.
Mr. Newman honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1967, achieving the rank of E-4 in the Army. He later worked for Trunkline Gas Company as the Area Superintendent. Carl was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Mason Lodge. He enjoyed spending his free time going deer hunting.
In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers: James Newman and Charles Newman; sisters: Levalle Newman Holley and Freda Newman Nixon; and nephew: Larry Nixon.
He is survived by his sister-in-law: Betty Wright; nephew: Jud Nixon; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Carl Haynes Newman were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah in Savannah, TN, with Reggie Coleman officiating. Burial followed at Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville, TN.
