Iris Loretta Seay Queener, age 94, a native of Del Rio, TN, departed her earthly home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at her son’s residence in Spring Hill, TN, on a journey to meet her heavenly father, quietly and peacefully.
She was born in Del Rio, TN on October 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Creed Seay and the late Minnie Estella Lee Seay. She lived her life “one day at a time.” She was an avid lover of all sports. She played basketball for Cocke County High School in Newport, TN. Bowling was her passion. She played golf, softball, and was a winner at the league level at all. She lived in Michigan from 1950 – 1991 then came back to Tennessee. She was an Eastern Star and a member of Noah’s Ark Widows Group. She loved flowers, cooking, watching sports, and television.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Alvin Queener; brothers: Tois Seay, Ois H. Seay and Moas R. Seay; sister: Joyce Ann Robbins; sisters-in-law: Marlene Foster Seay, Mary Margaret McMahon Seay, Martha Harrison Seay; and brothers-in-law: Joe Willis and Verlin “Bus” Robbins.
She is survived by her son: Danny (Darlene) Queener of Spring Hill, TN; brother: Edgar C. Seay of Del Rio, TN, sisters: Lois “Dot” Seay Willis of Yulee, FL, Rosie May Seay of Springfield, OH, Mary Ruth Seay Shulaw of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law: Diane Seay of Newport, TN; grandchildren: Danielle (Jonathan) Moore of Nashville, TN, Dana (Zack) Boehm of Columbia, TN; and great-grandchildren: Annalong Moore and Oakley Boehm.
Funeral services, preceded by an Eastern Star Ceremony, for Iris Loretta Queener were held at Deep Springs Baptist Church in Dandridge, TN on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Nichols officiating. She was laid to rest at Deep Springs Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered by way of: www.TnFunerals.com.
