James Ray (Jimbo) Cheatwood
James Ray (Jimbo) Cheatwood, age 69, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Maury Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a native of Lawrence County TN, retired from TVA, a member of IBEW 558, and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends, and Tennessee Vols and baseball and after college softball where he played all his life as a pitcher of numerous championship teams.
He is preceded in death by his father: James O Cheatwood; mother: Dorothy McGuire Cheatwood; and one sister: Deborah J. Harrington.
He is survived by two sisters: Brenda Cheatwood Grant (Eddie), and Vicki Cheatwood Chandler (Bud); and one brother: Rex J. Cheatwood, all of Lawrenceburg TN; also nieces and nephews: Wade Smith, Dustin Grant, Kim Carrington, Holly Wood, Dylan Harrington, Stacy McBride Ashley Waller, Rhett Cheatwood; great-niece and nephews: Tori Brazier, Ty Johnson, Harlan Wood; and great-great-niece: Raelynn Dyer.
Funeral services for James Ray (Jimbo) Cheatwood will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 25, 2023 at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Mickey Bracken officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Mars Hill Baptist Church Youth Fund.
