Johnny Leon Clanton, age 88, of Leoma, TN passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Sullivan’s Home & Auto before owning and operating Clanton and Son’s Flooring. He would later go on to serve as Circuit Court Clerk from 1998 to 2006. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Frances Smith Clanton; parents: Cecil and Elsie Clanton; brother: Gilford Clanton.
He is survived by his sons: Ricky Clanton (Gayle), Tim Clanton (Lesa), and Chad Clanton (Pam); daughter: Tonya Haynes (Sean); brother: Rex Clanton (Susan); sisters: Geraldine Gallahar, Juanita Webb, and Joan Johns (Dewayne); ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Johnny Leon Clanton were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Gum Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed at Gum Springs Cemetery. Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Copperas Branch youth fund or the Gum Springs youth fund.
