Gary Michael “Mike” Combs, age 76, of Lawrenceburg, TN was welcomed into his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
He was born November 6, 1946 in Sassafras, KY. He was a manager at Publix in St. Augustine, FL, but after a debilitating accident in 1982, he moved his family to Tennessee which he had always considered his home.  He was an avid Star Wars fan who spent many hours with his grandchildren introducing them to those stories. He loved to read and listen to the radio. He was always listening to anything that spoke of Jesus and His love for us. He spent many years in church teaching, fellowshipping, and sharing God’s love and salvation with everyone he met. If you ever had a stranger in Lawrenceburg ask you if you knew Jesus, it was probably him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Kermit and Mary Combs, and his in-laws: J.C. and Doris Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Debbee Combs; three daughters: Cheri (Chris) Childress of Spring Hill, TN, Carrie (Daren) Goolsby of Lawrenceburg, TN , and Casey (Russ) Willis of Hot Springs, AR; six grandchildren: Colby (Mandy) Benefield, Evan (Tara) Goolsby, Eric (Karley) Goolsby, Emma Willis, Chloe Willis, and Jon Willis; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Linda (Lonnie) Click and Kathy (Bill) Highsmith, both of Palm Bay, FL; four sisters-in-law: Katie, June, Jo, and Dee Dee; two brothers-in-law: Joey and Clint; several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
A Celebration of Life for Gary Michael “Mike” Combs will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at New Prospect Baptist Church, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
