Lowell Thomas “Buddy” McAfee, age 88, of Florence, AL passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023.
He was a native of Akron, OH, a retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a member of Woodmont Baptist Church in Florence, AL.  Mr. McAfee served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James T. and Beatrice Virginia Trammell McAfee; his first wife: Sylvia Rebecca Davis McAfee; one brother: James Lewis McAfee; and one sister: Marjorie Elanda McAfee Crabb.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Childers McAfee of Florence, AL; three children: Victor Lynn McAfee (Lorri) of Greenhill, AL, Lowell Eric McAfee (Ruth) of Madison, MS, and Beverly McAfee Smith (Danny) of Florence, AL; three step-children: Denise Childers Murks (Michael) of Florence, AL, Phyllis Crocker (Lawrence) of Birmingham, AL, and Lydia Childers Collins (Butch) of Killen, AL; sister-in-law: Juanita McAfee of Leoma, TN; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and inurnment for Lowell Thomas “Buddy” McAfee were conducted at Center Point Methodist Cemetery with full military honors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 with Chad Hess officiating. Neal Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
